Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the thought of making changes in your life? That sense that there’s so much to fix, so much to shift, that you don’t even know where to start?
You’re not alone. I’ve been there. In the past, I resisted making some changes for years. (I’ve gotten way better.)
It could be about your health. Your habits. Your mindset. The way you talk to yourself or the way you spend your time. Change can feel like a mountain too steep to climb when you’re looking at the whole thing at once.
But here’s what I’ve learned, both in my own life and from years of coaching: you don’t have to change everything. You just have to change one thing.
The Chain Reaction
For years, I’ve worked with clients who get stuck in the whirlwind of “I have to fix it all.” Their exercise, their nutrition, their sleep, their relationships, their productivity. It’s overwhelming, and it leads to paralysis. Nothing moves because everything feels urgent.
But when someone focuses on just one thing, something shifts. That one change builds momentum. It creates evidence that change is possible. And it opens doors that felt locked before.
I know this because I lived it.
When I was 30, I was hiding one of the most important parts of myself: my true identity. The fear of coming out was holding me back from the life I truly wanted. I was living a lie, and I let it go on for a long time. It was affecting every part of me.
But when I finally took that one courageous step, coming out to my family and friends, it didn’t just change that one part of my life. It unlocked everything.
I found the freedom to be myself. The right friends showed up. The right relationships showed up. I found a new sense of joy. I started finding success in my career, new opportunities started coming in, and I felt a confidence I’d never experienced before. I stepped into my full power. All because of one change.
You Probably Already Know What Yours Is
I want you to sit with this question: What’s your one change?
What’s the one thing that, if you shifted it, would ripple through the rest of your life? Whether it’s changing your diet, speaking your truth, letting go of old habits, or stepping into your purpose, that one shift can lead to exponential growth.
I bet you already know what it is. It’s that little nudge in your gut that you can’t ignore. The thing you’ve been avoiding, or maybe just haven’t had the courage to tackle yet.
But trust me, when you make that change, everything else starts to fall into place.
Change doesn’t have to be overwhelming. It just takes one powerful step forward. One change that leads to another, and then another. That’s the beauty of it. The hardest part is getting started, but once you do, there’s no telling how far you’ll go.
So what’s your one change? It could be the thing that transforms your entire life.
I explored this idea further on a recent episode of Impact Ready. [Give it a listen here.]
